Foundation Programme Lecturer
The Foundation Programme Lecturer takes the main supportive role in our programmes. They are entrusted with ensuring that students get maximum exposure to the English language, and assist the students by presenting study skills and techniques, as well as Australian Cultural studies. The Programme is aimed at helping students achieve their ultimate goal: an International recognised Australian degree. Additional topics covered include skills to maximise their time management and understanding of what it means to “compare and contrast” in an essay, or to “discuss”, “review” or “critique” articles. Comprehensive curriculum materials are available to assist with this.
Our Foundation Programme Lecturers are also asked to impart some understanding of what it means to live in Australia, and enable the students to conceptualise what it means for them to be an international student at a western university. Through the use of slide shows, movies, pictures and virtual tours, teachers are encouraged to relate Australian idioms and social norms.
On occasion, students lack the requisite mathematical ability to fully interpret data from graphs and tables, so an introduction to maths course is available for those who require additional support in this area. A similar course is available for fundamental computing skills.
The lecturer is instrumental in encouraging and assisting students attain their goals of entry into a western university, where the need for critical analysis and effective communication in English is essential.
Core Unit Lecturer
Core Unit Lecturers teach the wide range of core units that are offered by IIBT to our overseas students. The Lecturer’s role is to deliver the necessary academic preparation to ensure succesful completion of units that are recognised by cooperative Australian universities. IIBT provides curricula and tutorial support. Lecturers are expected to prepare and mark assignments and examinations as required.
